Take the Tate Boat downstream to the Tate Modern where there are some breathtaking exhibitions. A display dedicated to the final paintings in the career of American painter Mark Rothko has just drawn to a close. This comprised of around 50 works on paper and canvas. On the same floor the first major UK retrospective of the Brazilian artist Cildo Meireles who is widely recognised as one of the leaders of the Conceptual art movement was exhibited. It consisted of 8 absorbing installations which play with our senses and included a work titled Atraves (Through) 1983-9 where you are invited to walk on a broken glass floor through a labyrinth of barriers.
