Glamour and flying have always been synonymous, aircraft manufacturers in wake of this revelation have joined forces with the most influential haute couture design to offer exclusive interior design service for private jet owners, catering to their specific needs. The airline industry is a catwalk for the image makers and image takers, now wealthy travellers are also looking to put a personal stamp on their own aircraft as an additional element of exclusivity.

We have moved leaps and bounds from the early days of heavy clad cabins that lacked any aesthetic appeal, created for pure functionality. Now the likes of Versace, Hermes and Candy & Candy have added their sparkle and created a new super league of interior design for the private jet buyer. An eclectic list of private jet toys are also available to order, the once redundant traveller is now employed with an array of gadgets, state of the art avionics, espresso machines, and your very own Bang and Olufsen private onboard theatre all at his/her fingertips!

Aircraft makers provide expert know-how on the logistical, technical as well as management aspects of private aviation, while luxury designers work with aircraft owners on the interior design and stylistic aspects, tailored to their own individual tastes and preferences.

Italian fashion house Versace and Swiss business aviation services firm TAG joined forces in April last year to create an interior design service for private jet owners. Today we read that the duo have now secured their first interior design project for an Airbus A319 corporate jet.

One of the largest private aircraft available, the A319, is for a European client and will go into service in the fourth quarter of 2008. The interior will be designed by Versace which will have 16 seats in a four-compartment arrangement: salon, galley, business office, and stateroom with en suite bathroom and will feature executive armchairs embossed with Versace's signature Greek fret motif.

The furniture will be made of the best materials, exclusive finishes and luxury detailing spanning the four cabins of the aircraft.

Candy & Candy have extended their franchise into luxury jets. One source said: “this will be pretty one off stuff. They are looking at installing spas that work at 40,000ft”

There is no limit, even the sky; from fluffy cappuccinos to hot tubs and pretty much anything else you might have on your wish list, which gets you thinking!

As one can imagine there is a cost to these flighty pleasures, however, for the weary traveller the thought of relaxing into a warm Spa on your inbound London leg after a gruelling business trip is all rather appealing! Just one more reason to travel privately!
