Inside Fashion

London Fashion Week

It seems to me that London Fashion Week is more than ever about what people are wearing and who is turning up to each show then it is about the designer's clothes.

People watching when you are waiting for the show to begin, later than scheduled, is of course so much fun and this season did not disappoint.

The first character I am going to discuss I nicknamed banana woman - she is in fact a transvestite who was wearing a complete rubber/latex suit with blown up blond hair in the shapes of banana's. I saw her at a few shows and turned at one point in a jest to someone saying "she could have at least changed her outfit". They replied "I know" in a serious tone.

Then there was the hats. Not just any type of hats, big/bold or dam right rude was on the agenda. You see it's not about dressing in the latest fashion trends anymore, if you want to stand out at the shows you need to dress as individually and outragious as possible. This guarantees you attention and possible newspaper blog publication.

The best show for people watching had to be the Pam Hogg show at On|Off. Cool names such as Nick Cave and Phil Dirtbox (my icon from my party days!) and Siouxsie Sioux appearing on the catwalk by opening the show. I could have waited for that show to start for ages!
