Soho here I come |
With fashion week done and dusted and unfortunately no time to go to Paris this season it has been back to the grindstone in the life of a stylist! However I must comment on the final menswear day which commenced with Carolyn Massey and James Long who were winners of the Topman New Gen Men Award; Running over to the Portico Rooms for Lou Dalton’s exciting salon show and then to Vivienne Westwood’s son’s label “A Child of the Jago” showed how diverse means’ fashion can really be. My favourite was actually the pink suits that I saw on the Orschel Read catwalk- even if they could appear a bit summery for an AW collection they are ultimately very wearable.
From high end designers to the best of the high street, I was delighted to attend the Annual Cosmopolitan Fashion Awards which are voted for by the readers; Winners included People Tree for the most ethical label; The ‘Love your Curves’ award went to Evans and the Nike representative looked so incredibly cool as she collected the best sportswear brand; Most desirable item went to D&G with the PR wearing some amazing D&G boots still with the label on the bottom (spot the stylist!!) but lucky girl being able to raid the stockroom! It was a great networking event and I bumped into several people I had not seen for a long time and if all the PR girlies were wearing their own brand, there are definitely some very hot looks on the high street! The full run down and photos will be in next month’s issue of Cosmo.
It was also quite exciting to hear about the Designer Denim Delivery that was coming to TKMaxx,- with the current season of a huge selection of brands under one roof it is the one stop shop for the hardcore shopper..
Which brings me on to the H! by Henry Holland collection at Debenhams- I want it all! So far I have just succumbed to the black gladiator sandals for my pending work trip, but I have earmarked his chequered pants and fabulous printed bikinis too.. So fashion domination might be in his sight as at Fashion Week, you could actually buy the t shirts as they were strutted down the catwalk and this much more affordable collection is available nationwide at Debs.
With the weather turning and my inspiration running on overdrive I have heaps of fashion shoot ideas I want to squeeze in – one of them needing a desert..or at least a vast sandy beach- at the moment it is Dungeness versus Fuerteventura- I know where I would rather be! I went for coffee with the fabulous Stephen Lacey who I met at fashion week to discuss the options so watch this space on the outcome…
Not being very good at sitting still I also popped along to the launch of ethical jewellery brand Cred which was showcasing the new collection “Forget-Me- Knot” a gorgeous collection of fair trade white gold pieces including distinctive studs, rings and necklaces which anyone would be proud of wearing. Cred, being a particularly apt name as this is jewellery with a conscience. Not only does it look classy, you can rest assured that all involved are paid fairly.
If I was ever to invest in a timeless classic, I would certainly be delighted to wear something from Cred- although at the moment, I am addicted to Urban Outfitters for their costume pieces.
Final news of the week is I am finally moving into the office share..I’m going to pick the keys up on Monday so no more squeezing on the commuter trains with my dolly trolley! Excited- moi!?! I haven’t had a London address for quite a while so if any one wants to send invites, press releases and product info, please get in touch for full address.
