Cockburn's Vintage Ports |
.jpg)

After a bumper year in the vineyard and careful maturation in the cellars, the UK’s most popular port has declared two vintage ports, Cockburn’s Quinta dos Canais 2007 and Cockburn’s Vintage 2007 - sure to make exceptional gifts for any special occasion.
“Whilst a cold wet winter can feel pretty miserable in the UK, it can mark the start of a perfect vintage year for port in Portugal,” says Miguel Côrte-Real, Cockburn’s master blender. “If it is followed by a warm dry spring and an intensely hot summer, the grapes grown will be wonderfully ripe and mature. These are ideal conditions for producing a port which can be laid down to enjoy years later.”
A vintage year is not declared every year by The Port Wine Institute, making the new Cockburn’s Vintage 2007 and Cockburn’s Quinta dos Canais 2007 extremely special. Famous for their longevity and ability to age gracefully in the bottle for many years, vintage ports make an ideal lasting gift that is sure to impress and delight.
Tasting notes:
Cockburn’s Vintage 2007 is a blend of robust Touriga Nacional grapes, late harvested, characteristically floral Touriga Franca grapes and, for additional depth, an extremely intense blend of grapes from very old vineyards is added. It is deep purple in colour, showing lovely aromas of violets. Rich cassis flavours dominate the palate and combine perfectly with the typically dry and elegant Cockburn’s finish. Cockburn’s Vintage 2007 is available from Vintage House RRP £33.95 and thedrinkshop.com RRP £32.
Quinta dos Canais 2007 has been blended from two grape varieties, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz. This single Quinta vintage is opaque and purple in colour. Aromas of eucalyptus give it a clean and elegant style whilst rich flavours of sweet blackberries and firm tannins fill the mouth. A port of good ageing potential, whose soft, rich fruit can also be enjoyed whilst still young, Quinta dos Canais 2007 is available from Vintage House RRP £31.95 and thedrinkshop.com RRP £30.
